Adopt a pig
Ironwood loves to help responsibly adopt pigs to join new families!
All prospective "parents" are screened. We want to be sure that these lovable creatures are a welcome part of the family.
Thinking about adopting? Some things to check first:
Check your zoning. There are regulations and limitations set by individual counties, towns, and HOAs. Be sure you can legally own a pig before going any further with it.
How big of a pig would you be okay with? “Micropigs”, aka “teacup pigs”, do not exist and are either baby pigs or severely malnourished pigs. Most pot-bellied pigs will grow to weigh up to 125 to 200 pounds.
Find out if there is a veterinarian near you that is willing and able to provide care for a pig. Is it a mobile vet or will you be required to transport your pig to the clinic?
Are there other animals in the household? Territorial disputes, particularly with dogs, can be dangerous for a pig.
Is your yard landscaped? Pigs naturally like to root around in the dirt and will damage vegetation during their explorations.

You will receive an educational tour of the facilities, with advice and ideas along the way on fencing, shelter, shade, water, and pig behavior.
This visit also gives you a chance to meet our pigs and see the variety of sizes, colors, and personalities.
Next: a home visit
When you have decided that you want to adopt a pig—and maybe even picked out the ones you want—we will visit your home to advise on fencing, shade, shelter, and water, as well as how a pig will fit in with other animals in your household living space.
Finalizing the adoption(S)
Once everything is prepared and in place to provide a safe environment, you can pick up the pigs of your choice or we'll transport them to your home if needed.
Adoption Fee
$30 for males and $60 for females. All pigs adopted are spayed or neutered.
Where possible, we always greatly appreciate additional donations to help take care of the rest of the pigs.

Booger & Sweet Pea
We’re 2 year old siblings who had been living in an apartment rarely getting to go outdoors. Now we love being able to roam around outside to play so we want a home with a yard. We have been neutered and spayed and are ready to go!

Humphrey
We came from two different places, arriving at Ironwood within days of each other. We’ve become best buds and need to stay together. Both of us are full grown and have been neutered. We would make a great addition to your family!
Yelena & Anna
We are sisters who are 2 years old and will grow a little bit more. We have been spayed and are in good health. We would like to be adopted together so we can stay best friends.
Krypto & Zorro
We are 8 year old brothers looking for a home where we can stay together. We’d been living at a foster home but came to the sanctuary recently when our foster mom got sick.
Mojo & Casper
We were both strays but were found at different times in different parts of town. We quickly became best buddies after coming to Ironwood and want to stay together if adopted.
Cooper & Lola
The two of us were rescued from different places but became friends after coming to the sanctuary. We are close in age and would be the perfect addition to your family!
